The Expanded Public Works Programme (EPWP) has its origins in Growth and Development Summit (GDS). Employment opportunities are created in the public works sector through the use of labour intensive methods and by utilising people’s skills and abilities.
The EPWP is one of the key programmes of government’s strategy to reduce poverty and create employment. It is a national programme that aims to create work opportunities for the unemployed, especially those from low-income households. The programme is implemented through different government departments and agencies.
